We advise you to first check whether your own liability insurance covers this risk. If this is not the case, you can take out additional liability insurance with us.

Failure to meet expectations is not insured. The use stated on the policy is with our riding horse. Driving technical problems and character problems are also not insured

On the date that your policy is renewed in the year that your horse turns 20, we will convert the cover to Accident cover.

We request that you inform us as soon as possible. This can be done by telephone or by e-mail to schade@hippohorseinsurance.nl. If the permanent incapacity is caused by something that may be covered, we will need a full medical record, which may include; an extensive statement from the vet, patient card with the performed examinations and treatments, imaging (including X-rays, ultrasound images, video fragments, endoscopy images, etc.). As soon as the claim file is complete, it will be assessed by our veterinary advisor, after further processing we will contact you to discuss the next steps.

The moment we will proceed with payment of your horse, we will discuss with you how to proceed. We can arrange for the horse to be picked up by us, or bringing it yourself is also an option. The horse is then slaughtered in the Netherlands. If you prefer to have the horse euthanized yourself by a vet, or keep it with you for old age, this is also possible. In the case of euthanasia, there is a residual value of € 400.00, which will be deducted from the compensation after receipt of the euthanasia statement. Upon retention, we waive the right of acquisition. You must then meet a number of conditions that are laid down in a repurchase agreement. A redemption fee will be determined. This redemption fee is in any case a minimum: – €700 for a horse with a height of 1.58 meters or higher or – €500 for a pony with a height of less than 1.58 meters, and a maximum of 50% of the insured amount. The horse passport will also be stamped, after which you will receive it back.

Health insurance reimburses all necessary veterinary assistance as a result of a covered risk on your policy. Consult your policy conditions for this.

With the Bronze, silver and gold cover, with substantiated advice from your vet, the additional cost of the standard fitting will be reimbursed up to 2x per insurance year. The horse must be treated by a veterinarian for this condition.
